Profound vs AirOps: which one actually does the work?

A practical comparison of Profound and AirOps for AI search visibility, what each one is built to do, where each one stops, and how to tell which fits the way your team works.

Alberto Gaucin7 min read

Profound and AirOps get compared constantly, and they should not be. They solve two different halves of the same problem.

Profound is a measurement platform. It tells you how often your brand is named inside AI answers, which competitors are named instead, and which prompts drive that visibility. AirOps is a production platform. It is a no-code workflow builder that generates and publishes content at volume, with visibility tracking bolted on more recently.

If you need to know where you stand, Profound is the stronger tool. If you have a content team that wants to build its own pipelines, AirOps is the stronger tool. If what you actually want is for the work to get done, both leave you holding a to-do list. That gap is the reason Arda exists, and we will get to it honestly, including where the other two beat us.

What Profound is genuinely good at

Profound is the most established name in AI visibility tracking, and the depth shows. It tracks across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Meta AI, and DeepSeek depending on tier. Two things it has that most competitors do not:

Prompt Volume. Actual demand data for AI search, meaning an estimate of how often people ask a given question of an assistant. Everyone else, including us, is inferring demand from keyword data and category knowledge. If you are an enterprise brand allocating a large budget and you need defensible numbers in a deck, this is real and it matters.

Enterprise readiness. SSO, SAML, SOC 2, multiple companies under one account, unlimited domains, API access. If you are an agency running many client brands or a company with a procurement process, Profound clears the bar.

Where it stops: Profound tells you the score. Closing the gap is still your job. The Agents feature does add action-taking, but it runs on a credit model, and credits are the constraint that shapes what you can do. Starter gets 100 agent credits a month, Growth gets 400, and a complex multi-step agent burns more than a simple one. Content work is not a monthly allowance of 400 anything.

More structurally: Profound is an AI visibility product. It does not do classic SEO. Your crawl issues, thin pages, internal linking, and Google rankings are somebody else's tool and somebody else's meeting, which means the two halves of the same problem never get prioritized against each other.

What AirOps is genuinely good at

AirOps is a serious piece of engineering. The visual workflow builder lets you chain research, generation, and publishing steps into pipelines, connect 30+ models and 10+ data providers, and push straight into Webflow, WordPress, Contentful, Sanity, or Strapi. Task ceilings are high: 20,000 on the free Solo tier, 75,000 on Pro.

If you have a content ops person who likes building systems, AirOps gives them a very high ceiling. Brand voice consistency across large volumes of output is a real strength, and the free tier is genuinely usable.

Where it stops: AirOps is a tool, not an outcome. You design the assembly line. That means someone on your team owns the strategy of what to build, the prompt engineering behind each step, the quality bar, and the maintenance when a step drifts. Reviewers consistently flag the learning curve, and 54 of 111 G2 reviews reference difficulty getting up to speed.

Usage-based billing on "tasks" is the other thing to model before you commit. A task is a step in a workflow, so a single article can consume many, and forecasting the bill for high-volume content work is genuinely hard up front. Overages run $0.025 per task on Solo. The jump from the self-serve tiers to Pro is also steep with nothing in between.

And like Profound, the visibility layer answers a narrower question than the work requires: AirOps tells you which prompts and pages to target, not what is structurally wrong with your site.

The gap both of them leave

Put the two side by side and the shape of the problem is clear.

Profound measures but does not build. AirOps builds but does not decide. Neither one closes the loop from "we are losing this query" through "here is the specific page and schema change that fixes it" to "it is live, and here is what moved." Teams end up running both, plus Ahrefs or Semrush for the SEO half, plus a human to sit in the middle translating between three dashboards.

That middle seat is the actual job. It is also the expensive one.

Where Arda is different

Arda is an autonomous agent rather than a dashboard, and the difference is in what lands on your desk. You do not get a score to act on or a builder to configure. You get drafted work waiting for approval.

One loop across SEO and AEO. Arda crawls your pages, content, and structured data, measures the signals both Google and the assistants use, and runs the buying-intent queries in your category daily across Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude. Same system, same prioritized queue. A thin page and a lost citation compete for the same slot, which is the only way to know what to fix first.

It ships, and you stay in control. Arda drafts CMS-ready pages, on-page fixes, comparison pages, and structured data, then publishes to your CMS or opens dev-ready tickets once your team approves. Nothing goes live without sign-off, every change comes with the reasoning attached and a before-and-after, and there is a full audit trail. That last part is what agencies tell us sold them: you can show a client exactly what changed and why.

Alerts on what costs you leads. When a competitor surges or you stop being cited for a query you used to win, you hear about it when it happens, not in next month's report.

Priced like a hire, not another dashboard. No credits to ration, no task ceiling to forecast. That is a deliberate trade: it means our pricing is quoted per account rather than published, and if you want a $99 tracker to check a hunch this month, Profound Starter is the better buy.

Where the other two beat us: Profound has more engines, real prompt-volume data, and a longer enterprise track record. AirOps gives you far more control if you want to build custom pipelines yourself, and a free tier to start on. We are the newer product and we are not pretending otherwise.

How to choose

  • You need to report AI visibility to executives, with defensible numbers. Profound.
  • You have a content ops team that wants to build and own its own pipelines. AirOps.
  • You are an enterprise with procurement, SSO, and many domains. Profound Enterprise, or AirOps Enterprise if production volume is the bottleneck.
  • You want the recurring SEO and AEO work to actually get done, with your team approving it. Arda.
  • You want to check whether you have a problem at all, cheaply. Profound Starter, or run the queries by hand for free.

The honest test: look at your last three months. If the blocker was not knowing where you stood, buy measurement. If the blocker was knowing exactly what to do and nobody having time to do it, more dashboards will not help.

Frequently asked questions

Is Profound or AirOps better for AEO? Profound is better at measuring AEO performance. AirOps is better at producing content at volume. Neither one audits your site's technical and structural signals the way SEO tooling does, so most teams running either still need a third tool for that half.

Can you use Profound and AirOps together? Yes, and plenty of teams do: Profound for the scoreboard, AirOps to produce against it. Budget for both plus an SEO tool, and for the person who connects them.

How much do Profound and AirOps cost? As of July 2026, Profound publishes Starter at $99/mo and Growth at $399/mo, with Enterprise custom. AirOps has a free Insights tier and a free Solo tier, with Pro and Enterprise quoted on request and billed against usage-based task limits.

Does Arda replace Profound and AirOps? For most mid-market teams, yes, because it covers the measurement, the decision, and the shipping in one loop across both SEO and AI search. If you specifically need prompt-volume demand data or fully custom workflow building, those are things Profound and AirOps do that we do not.

How do I find out where I actually stand? Run the questions your buyers ask before choosing a vendor like you, across the assistants your market uses, and write down who gets named. If you would rather see it done for you, we will run them and show you the real answers, including who is named instead of you.
